Sneak Peak of the Library Expansions

The Swinertons Builders' sign indicates that
the library isstill under construction
This has been in the draft stage for several weeks: so its old news.  But if you want to see the progress in the library expansion read the next post which will appear above this one. New more current pictures will be posted soon.
Here are a few pictures of what's where the front entrance was or what's beyond that wall that blocks us from going up the stairs from the children's room and into the rest of the Main Library. But first we see in this picture to the  right this sign outside the library blocking us from the main entrance and indicating the usual entrance is restricted except  to the construction crew.
Some library visitors have come up to this sign and assumed that they can't get into the library at all. But this is not true. Admittance is just a few feet to the right down a few steps and into the children's room. Here children's service is as usual except for the inclusion of the circulation or check out desk at far right of the children's information desk and the Temporary Teen Arena in the former foyer to children's room. Adults may pick up book requests, turn in books, take care of fines . While construction is under way, library visitors who want a library collection to browse are encouraged to visit or call the Hunt Branch.

Site of the new book return

When FPL is remodeled it will have a automatic book sorter. Instead of placing returned books in the slots at the check out desk as we have been accustom to, the book return will be in the wall near the window. The picture to the right is a view through the book return and into the sorting room. There are few major technological improvements  coming to the library with the new expansion.
Within the newly constructed library addition there is space set a side for a used book store to be operated by the volunteers of the Friends of the Library.

Bright red construction equipment adds interest
to a library void of books

Patched drywall ready for paint is a good indication
that the project is well on its way and that
complection is just around the corner.
