THE FALL LINE-UP

How times flies! Summer was here and now it's gone but  the Friends of the Fullerton Public Library were as busy as ever.  The last post to this blog was encouraging you all to come out to the 7-Day Moving or Clearance Sale in August.  With the completion of the Library expansion and renovation and the opening of our brand new bookstore with in the Library we were clearing out and shutting down our annex or the greenhouse building just west of the Library on the corner of Commonwealth and Short Street. We will no longer be renting this building. All our operations are in the library. HAVE YOU VISITED OUR NEW STORE IN THE LIBRARY? If not please do so.  We need all the donators and used book shoppers to continue to support our efforts so that we can continue to support the library. Thelibrary has already planned out how the money we earn from used book sales will be spent.
Our director has asked that I remind all of you who may be subscribing to this blog to remember that the Library is having a special "Distinguished Speakers Series".  This promises to be quite exciting and informative as the line-up of guest speakers is quite impressive. All the details will be posted on the Library's Public Events Calendar. And more news will be posted here as it is made available.

September 15 our speaker will be Victor Villasenor.

Pride in heritage, family, and the power of personal achievement through vision, education and perseverance. Victor Villaseñor passionately and openly talks about his own life obstacles growing up feeling lost between two worlds, in a constant struggle to find common ground between the culture of his Mexican-Indian-European ancestors and his family's newly adopted American homeland. Villaseñor will speak on the power of language and how personal family histories empower us, as he talks about the strength of family, pride of heritage, the importance of education, personal achievement and world harmony.

Victor Villaseñor's program is sponsored by the Friends of the Fullerton Public Library and is also supported by Poets & Writers, Inc., through a grant it received from the James Irvine Foundation.
